The Tri-City Americans fell 5-2 Friday night to the Brandon Wheat Kings after letting in five straight unanswered goals. This game saw the return of Parker Bell who was reassigned from the Calgary Wranglers just yesterday. Drew Freer also returned to the lineup from an upper-body injury.
The scoring began halfway through the frame; at 10:36 exactly, Lukas Dragicevic buried a puck home in an empty net practically after the Philadelphia Flyers draftee Carson Bjarnson lost sight of the puck. Deagan McMillan, just a few minutes later, banged home off the pipe a cross-crease pass from Parker Bell, giving Tri-Cities a 2-0 lead.
Brandon would not give in, and answered back with a goal of their own at 17:11. Jaden Wiens got his 3rd goal of the year, and we had a hockey game in Kennewick going into the intermission.
Things started quietly in the second period much like in the first, but Dominik Petr would break the silence, scoring his 6th goal of the year and nodding the game up at two each. That would conclude matters in the second period.
The third period is when the Americans collapsed, conceding three goals in the period. The scoring frenzy for Brandon started after Caleb Hadland danced through Tri-City defenders off the face-off and snuck the puck top shelf to give Brandon their first lead of the night. Roger McQueen would seal the game ten minutes later after a Jackson Smith turnover led to McQueen having all day in front of the net and scoring making it 4-2 Brandon. Evan Groeing would send the fans out early, scoring on an empty net with just thirteen seconds left making it 5-2 Brandon.
