The Tri-City Americans were routed Wednesday night by a score of 6-2. Avakyan didn’t have the best night at the office, continuing his early season struggles. Tyler Palmer for the Everett Silvertips also played in his 100th career game in the WHL.

Jake Sloan shot the Americans out of a cannon early after receiving a full ice pass from Jordan Gavin. Sloan danced around an Everett defender and sniped Tyler Palmer four minutes into the game.

Austin Roest would not let Tri-Cities cling on to their only lead of the night. Roest would score on a one-time blast from the point after a slick pass from Jesse Heslop to tie the game up. Everett would continue to apply pressure all period long. However, a few posts and great blocks by Tri-City defensemen kept the game knotted up at one going into the first intermission.

The Americans’ collapse would begin in the second period, where the Americans would concede four unanswered goals in the second period alone. Austin Roest would get his second goal of the contest, after banging home a cross crease pass from Ty Gibson to start the second period onslaught.

Dominik Rymon would score around 40 seconds later on a three-on-one going high blocker on Avakyan making it 3-1 Everett. Drew Freer would try and spark the Americans up, letting some haymakers go, but Rylan Pearce eventually dragged him down.

One minute later, Deagan McMillan and Tarin Smith decided to have a fight of their own in front of the benches, McMillan eventually tugging down Smith in the end.

Regardless of these fights, Auestin Roest would complete the hat trick after another great forecheck twenty seconds after the McMillan fight. Roest stole the puck in the slot batting the puck down and went high glove to make it 4-1. Stu Barnes would call his boys over to the bench for a much-needed timeout, but the damage had already been completed.

Julius Miettinen would close out the scoring in the second period, walking in on a two-on-one and going high blocker to make it 5-1 Everett.

The much dreaded third period for the Americans arrived, and it looked like both teams would go off into the night quiet. However, Julius Miettinen on the powerplay decided to add a play to his highlight reel after making a no-look between the leg pass to Jesse Heslop who banged it home in the slot making it 6-1 Everett at the halfway mark in the third.

The Americans would also not fall silent in the third, Max Curran fed Brandon Whynott a lengthy pass which led to a breakaway where Whynott would score with just under three minutes left in the contest.

With their loss, the Americans fell to 6-4-1. The Americans will have to find a way to recover, as they head up to Kamloops for a two-game weekend tilt between the Kamloops Blazers beginning Friday night.
