The Tri-City Americans weren’t up for Tuesday night’s task against the Saskatoon Blades, falling 6-3. Carter MacAdams got his first point as a Tri-City American after getting traded to Tri-City from Calgary. Tri-City also did not take one penalty in tonight’s loss, which also comes as a change. Max Curran also had a two-point night and continues his strong start to the season.
For a change, the opposing team scored first in the game. Five minutes in, Lukas Hansen of the Saskatoon Blades netted his eighth goal of the season after tucking it short side on American goaltender Kyle Kelsey. That would end up being the only goal of the period.
Shots after one period of play were 9-5 in favor of Saskatoon.
Egor Sidorov, the Belarusian native, got Saskatoon off and running early into the second period with his first goal of the game. Sidorov, 43 seconds into the second, got a good pass in the slot from Trevor Wong and shot high over diving goaltender Kyle Kelsey, making it 2-0 Saskatoon.
Parker Bell would achieve the last goal of the period and bring some life back to the Americans. Eight minutes into the second period, Parker Bell walked in on a partial breakaway and shot it high over the blocker of Saskatoon netminder Austin Elliot to make it a one-goal game.
Shots after two periods of play were 27-17 in favor of Saskatoon.
Saskatoon ruined any chance of Tri-City adding another home win to the resume, scoring four goals in the third period. The first came by way of Egor Sidorov. Sidorov wrapped the puck around the net and found an opening at the far side, making it 3-1 Saskatoon. That was also Sidorov’s second goal of the game.
Two minutes later, Deagan McMillan answered back swiftly. McMillan fired a wrister from the slot and went five-hole on Austin Elliot, making it a one-goal game yet again.
Following McMillan’s goal, Saskatoon would counter that by scoring three straight unanswered goals. Sidorov completed his hat trick after the puck bounced off Kyle Kelsey’s glove and to Sidorov’s stick.
Vaughn Watterwodht would put things out of reach after receiving a cross-crease feed from Frasier Minten, making it 5-2 Saskatoon.
Easton Armstrong would get the last Saskatoon goal of the night, throwing it into an empty net and sending the paratroopers out of the building with just three minutes left.
For the last American fans left, they were able to see Pasha Bocharov get his fifth goal of the season with a minute left. With the puck loose at the front of the net, Bocharov was able to poke it in.
With their loss, Tri-City moves to 13-9-2. Tri-City is back at it again on Friday, Dec. 1st, against the Prince George Cougars with puck drop at 7:05 p.m.
