Mariners Executive Vice President and General Manager of Baseball Jerry Dipoto has announced that today they will call up Jacob Nottingham. The latter will be able to featured in tonight’s game in jersey number 13 against the Los Angeles Angels.

How the Mariners started off
The Mariners have been off to a pretty good start with a 14-12 record in the AL West placing them second in their division. White who has left for personal reasons, had been struggling in 22 games this season with a batting average of 155, one home-runs and six rbi’s.
Nottingham has bounced around a few teams after originally being drafted by the Astros. He was traded to the Oakland Athletics for Scott Kazmir. Not even a year later he was traded to the Brewers.
Why Nottingham was called up
Nottingham will replace first baseman Evan White who has been placed on the Bereavement list. For fans that don’t follow the sport, this provides an excused leave of absence for personal reasons.
The Mariners will hope to see White return to the team as soon as possible and help the Mariners push forward to continue their hot start. Nottingham will be expected by many fans to perform in order to stay up in the major leagues
A little bit of background on Nottingham
Nottingham, a 26-year-old California native was selected by the Houston Astros in the sixth round of the 2013 MLB Draft. Seattle recently him off waivers from the Milwaukee Brewers who he appeared in 38 major league games for from 2018-2020.
Nottingham before joining Mariners
During his time with the Brewers Nottingham had a batting average of 203, with 5 home-runs, 17 Runs Batted In and 30 strikeouts. the last time Nottingham featured for the Brewers was in the 2020 NL Wildcard versus the Los Angeles Dodgers.
In the offseason he underwent thumb surgery and was designated for assignment by the Brewers on April 22. It was smart for the Mariners to snap up a rotational player like Nottingham to fill the shoes for a player like White.
Mariners fans are hopeful that they can get some productivity form Nottingham and that he can potentially become a player that could be integral in their pursuit for the playoffs.
