The Boise Hawks are preparing for their first season in the Independent MLB-Partnered Pioneer League.

The team just hosted a tryout between April 30th – May 1st. The Head Coach Gary Van Tol has been diligently working to field a team that can compete right out of the gates in the Pioneer League. Van Tol takes the reigns as the head coach for the second time in Hawks history. As assistants, Van Tol will bring Travis Buck (who spent six seasons in the MLB) with him as the hitting coach, and Michael van Kampen (played professionally outside the US) on as the pitching coach.

But as the season draws closer and closer. The Boise Hawks are announcing that they will be playing in a couple of exhibition games before the season starts. The exhibition games will be a two-game series against the Hawks newest division rival, the Idaho Falls Chukars. The first game will be played in Idaho Falls on Wednesday, May 19th. And the second game will be played on Thursday May 20th, at Memorial Stadium in Boise. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:15 PM, gates will open at 6 PM.

“Gary (Van Tol) and our staff has been hard at work putting together a team to compete for the Treasure Valley,” said General Manager, Mike Van Hise. “These exhibition games are the final two steps to get our team ready to compete for a Pioneer League Championship.”

The exhibition game will be a general admission event, and tickets are $5 per person. Tickets will be sold at the stadium as walk-up purchases. You can’t buy these tickets in advance. Full and Half season seat holders will receive complimentary general admission tickets with their packages.

Limited individual tickets to the exhibition game and all 48 Boise Hawks home games will be available only on BoiseHawks.com on Saturday, May 15 at 10 AM. In-person and over-the-phone sales will begin Monday, May 17 at 10 AM.

These two games will be the first opportunity to see either the Boise Hawks or the Idaho Falls Chukars play this year. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity. The Boise Hawks will open the season two days later on the road in Ogden.
