College Sports Weekend Preview

This Mother’s Day weekend is a busy weekend for college teams all throughout the region as teams prepare to finish the regular season and qualify for the postseason. 

Gonzaga Bulldogs 

The Gonzaga Bulldogs baseball program is currently in the middle of a pause due to the program dealing with COVID protocols and contact tracing. The Bulldogs were scheduled to take on the University of Seattle Redhawks. Unfortunately, the series had to be canceled due to COVID-19 issues in the Bulldogs program. 

Oregon Ducks 

The Oregon Ducks baseball team will welcome the Washington Huskies into Eugene this weekend for a three-game series starting tomorrow. The first pitch for game one Friday is scheduled for 6:00, game two Saturday is scheduled for 2:00 and the series finale Sunday at noon. The Oregon Ducks men’s tennis program will have their first match of the NCCA Tournament this Saturday as the team will take on the Alabama Crimson Tide with the match scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.

The Ducks men’s and women’s track and field team will have its last regular season meet this weekend at Hayward Field Friday at 2:45 p.m. The 12th ranked Oregon Ducks softball team will be home this weekend for a top 25 matchup against the #7 Arizona Wildcats for a four-game series. Friday’s game is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on ESPN 2. A doubleheader is scheduled for Saturday with the first pitch for game one at 2:00 and game two at 4:30. The series wraps up Sunday, with the first pitch scheduled for noon. 

Oregon State Beavers 

The Oregon State Beavers football team will host a scrimmage this Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with the event open to the public. However, it will be limited to 15% capacity. The Beavers baseball team will welcome the USC Trojans to Corvallis for a three-game series. The first pitch for game one is scheduled for 4:00, game two Saturday is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., and the series finale Sunday is scheduled for noon. The Oregon State Beavers softball team will welcome in the #10 Arizona State Sun Devils into Corvallis for a three-game series. Game one of the series starts Friday at 5:00, Saturday’s game starts at 1:00, and the series concludes Sunday with a noon start. The Oregon State Women’s track and field team will make the trip to Eugene for the Oregon Twilight Invitational Friday. 

Washington Huskies 

The Huskies Baseball team will make the trip to Eugene to take on the #16 Oregon Ducks for a three-game series. The start times for the games are as followed 6:00 Friday, 2:00 Saturday, and the series finale is Sunday at noon. The Huskies softball team will welcome the Utah Utes to Seattle game one Friday will begin at 5:00. On Saturday, there will be a doubleheader with game one starting at 1:00, and game two will start at 3:00. The series finale will be Sunday at Noon. On Friday, the University of Washington men’s and women’s track and field team will host the Ken Shannon Invitational; the meet will start at 10:00. 

Washington State Cougars 

On Friday, the Washington State Cougars will welcome the #16 UCLA Bruins to Pullman for a three-game series. The first game is Friday, with first pitch at 6:05 p.m., Saturday, game two will begin at 2:05 p.m., and the series will wrap up Sunday with first pitch at 1:05 p.m.
