Moore has announced his commitment to the Oregon Ducks for the 2023 season on Friday. This news comes as a pleasant surprise to Ducks fans after speculation that Moore’s top choice was Notre Dame.
Moore is originally from Detroit, Michigan and has defiantly made himself known in the world of college football. The five-star quarterback was ranked 8 out of 300 in the ESPN recruiting database. Moore who stands at 6’3 and 210 pounds had a lot of different offers from Division I schools including LSU, Ohio State, Auburn, and many more. These offers also included Notre Dame which up until recently is where Moore was projected to commit to. Moore is currently ranked fourth in quarterbacks for the class of 2023 and recently potential quarterbacks seem to be sparse in the recruiting world. This gain will definably benefit the Ducks in future football seasons especially after the last football season which wasn’t bad for the Ducks but came with some unexpected losses.
Moore has had an exciting high school football career, one that left him Michigan’s top-ranked player. During his last three years at Martin Luther Highschool Moore has made the state playoffs all three years and in 2021 his team made it to the state championships. Having thrown 7,488 yards and 103 touchdowns as a junior in high school, Moore’s commitment has been the talk of college football recruitment. With coaches knowing the potential Moore has to be a key player, the Ducks are lucky to have Moore’s commitment and is expected to have the opportunity to start for the Ducks in the 2023 season. Moore’s commitment to the Ducks will be the 14th five-star commitment the school has had.
The Oregon Ducks football team has recently faced a lot of changes including a new coach. The upcoming season will be Dan Lanning’s first with the Ducks and fan are excited to see what he can do with the team. Lanning has already accelerated the Duck’s recruiting ranking with getting commitment from cornerback Caleb Presley, long snapper Nick Duzanksy and as of now Dante Moore. While the upcoming season will be his first as a head coach there are high hopes for Lanning’s. Especially with the recent transfer of BO Nix who left Auburn for Eugene. With some new players and a new coach, the Oregon Ducks are in for a promising next couple of seasons.
