This week the Ducks had to fight a little harder for their win. In the fourth game of the season, on a day when all PAC-12 schools painted their four-yard line yellow in honor of Spencer Webb, the Ducks beat the Washington State Cougars 44-41. This was the closest game of the season for the Ducks.
The Ducks kicked off at 1:00 pm in Pullman, Washington for their fourth game of the 2022 season. The game started with a touchdown from the Cougars. However, the Ducks didn’t let that discourage them. Oregon came back when Camden Lewis scored a 24-yard field goal. In the last couple of games, the Ducks have scored and not looked back. The team didn’t let the change of pace stop them from making excellent plays including three field goals in the first half of the game. These field goals brought their score up to nine, but they still trailed the Cougars by eight, as Washington State had 17 points on the board. The Ducks started off the second quarter with a touchdown. However, the Cougars came back scoring a field goal and a touchdown. Even with another touchdown on the board for the Ducks, the Cougars were still in the lead.
The Ducks came back strong in the fourth quarter scoring three touchdowns while the Cougars scored just two. This gave Oregon the lead at the end of the fourth quarter as they slipped out of Pullman with a three-point victory over Washington State. This is Washington State’s first loss of the season, but they definitely put up a fight.
With this being the Ducks’ third win of the season. this game could have been a telling point for how new head coach Dan Lanning and quarterback Bo Nix have influenced the team. The Ducks next game is Saturday, Oct.1 at home against Stanford with kickoff set for 8 p.m.
