In their last home game of the season, the Ducks beat the Utes with a final score of 20-17. With the football season coming to an end the team gave fans one more thing to celebrate.
After an unexpected loss from the Ducks last week fans packed into the stadium ready to see how the Ducks would bounce back. The game which was the last home game was also senior night. The team took time to recognize their senior players and the senior students. As kickoff got closer, fans were anxious to see if Bo Nix would play after an injury last week. Nix ended up playing however he heavily relied on his teammates to help get the ball down the field. The game was exciting from the start with Oregon scoring a touchdown right off the bat. The Ducks continued to keep the Utes at bay all throughout the first two quarters. As the defense kept them from the endzone, the offensive continued to put points on the board. At halftime, the team and fans were feeling confident that Oregon would pull off a win against Utah. Something the team was unable to do last year.
With the third quarter of the game starting Utah made it clear they would not go down without a fight. The Utes proceeded to score two touchdowns and quickly caught up to the Ducks. Leaving them tied for a couple minutes but the Ducks regained the lead with a field goal. As the fourth quarter began fans were nervous that this game would end the same way that last week’s did against Washington. However, the Ducks were determined to give fans one last win at the last home game of the season. The last minutes of the game were nerve-racking with interceptions as the ball seemly bounce from one team to the other. However, the Ducks were able to hold out long enough to pull off another win.
With the season wrapping up the Ducks only have one more game before postseason games begin. Their next game is Saturday, Nov. 26 as they travel to Corvallis to take on their rival, Oregon State Beavers with kickoff set for 12:30 p.m. at Reser Stadium. The civil war is one that fans are excited about. The rivalry between the Ducks and the Beavers is something that fans take pretty seriously and should be a good way to end the football season for Oregon fans.
