The Oregon Ducks played the North Carolina Tar Heels Wednesday evening in the Holiday Bowl. The teams faced off in San Diego and this was one of the first times the two teams played against each other. The Ducks won the game with a final score of 28-27.
Fans were excited to see the Ducks play just one more time before the New Year. There is also more excitement following Bo Nix who recently announced he will be returning to the team for the 2023 season. As the game started the Ducks won the coin toss and scored within the first four minutes of the game. North Carolina quickly came back and scored a touchdown evening the score 7-7 at the end of the first quarter. As the second quarter started the Oregon Ducks scored another touchdown putting them in the lead. The Tar Heels quickly came back and scored not one but two touchdowns leaving the score 14-21 as halftime began.
The third quarter passed without any teams scoring which put even more pressure on the Ducks. With the final quarter starting fans were on the edge of their seats waiting to see how the Ducks would come back. North Carolina scored a field goal a couple minutes in putting the Ducks even further behind. The Ducks’ offense came and scored a touchdown putting them back in the game. With the Tarheels in the lead by three points and only a couple minutes left the Ducks fans were hoping for their team to score. However, the Tar Heels made another field goal putting them in the lead. This made the Ducks fight back even harder and with only 19 seconds left in the game, the Ducks scored a touchdown and ultimately won the game. Ducks’ fans were thrilled after losing the Oregon State and the University of Washington fans were excited to end the 2022 season with a win.
As the football season has ended, fans are already excited to see what the Ducks will do next season. With Bo Nix returning and Dan Lanning finding his way. The Ducks should be in for an exciting 2023 season. The Ducks have already picked up a couple of new and exciting players and will defiantly pick up more in the upcoming months. Now that the season is over the Ducks have months to prepare for the 2023 season. However, Ducks fans won’t have to wait until August to see them play. The annual spring game will give fans a little bit of the football before the season starts.
