The Portland Trail Blazers have acquired shooting guard Matisse Thybulle from the Philadephia 76ers in a three-team trade. The Blazers are sending Svi Mykhailiuk to the Charlotte Hornets in the deal. The Hornets are also receiving multiple second-round picks while the 76ers are receiving Jalen McDaniels. But back to the Trail Blazers front, where they’ll receive help on the defensive side of the ball which is much needed. It doesn’t push them into the contending ranks in the west with that of the Dallas Mavericks, Phoenix Suns and others, but it helps defensively. Portland has had a lackluster defense for far too long and this is a move that will benefit them. It should also be noted that Thybulle and Lillard share the same agent and that Portland has had an interest in Thybulle in the past. Thybulle was originally selected out of the University of Washington in 2019 in the first round, 20th overall by the Boston Celtics. This season he’s currently averaging 2.6 points a game, 1.3 rebounds a game and 0.5 assists a game.
