The Oregon Ducks Womens Basketball team has lost another player to the Transfer Portal.
Taylor Mikesell will join Taylor Chavez (Arizona) and Jaz Shelley (Nebraska) as the departures from the University of Oregon. The Ducks are also losing assistant coach Xavi Lopez, who is departing to become an associate head coach at Sacramento State.
Kelley Graves has his work cut out for him with the roster as he now ten players listed on the roster. Those ten players include the five All-American High School Seniors from two years ago. As well as the two new freshman; 6-1 G Taylor Bigby and 6-8 Center Phillipina Kyei.
The roster now has Sydney Parrish, Sedona Prince, Angela Dugalic, Maddie Scherr, Kylie Watson, Te-Hina Paopao, Arielle Wilson, Nyara Sabally, Bigby and Kyei.
Maybe Graves will be bringing in a few transfers to replace these players. Or bringing in more freshman talent.
Taylor Mikesell was set to have a big role with the team this next season. Last season, Mikesell averaged 9.3 points and 2.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists for the Ducks this last season. She shot 44.4% from the field, including 33.3% from three-point range, and a team high 92.5% from the foul line.
Mikesell came to the University of Oregon last summer as a transfer from Maryland. She now has two years of eligibility left to play where ever she desires.
Graves has a whole year to figure out what to do with the roster, but if he is to bring in more freshman he needs to act fast. So that other teams in the Pac-12 jump ahead and recruit the best players. Though, no matter who he brings in this season. The expectation would be that the above players will get an increased workload this next year.
More to come.
