The defending NFC West Champion Seattle Seahawks released their 2021 schedule Wednesday as they try to defend the division title for the second consecutive year. This article will go week by week through the regular except for the divisional games. There will be one direct paragraph that will cover both matchups.

Week 1 Seattle Seahawks at Indianapolis Colts 10 a.m. (FOX)

The Seahawks will have to start the regular season right away with a team with very few changes over the offseason and the biggest one being at quarterback. The Colts in the offseason traded for Carson Wentz from Philadelphia. The other significant move was the signing of Eric Fisher. The biggest question for this matchup is how the Colts offense is going to look with Carson Wentz under center. Is it going to be more of what we saw last year a run-heavy offense with a couple of passes, or will it be more of what Wentz ran when Reich was the offensive coordinator in Philadelphia?

Week 2 Tennessee Titans v. Seattle Seahawks 1:25 p.m. (CBS)

In the second week of the regular season, the Seahawks’ first home game on the regular season, the team will face their second AFC opponent in the second straight week. Still, instead of a team with some questions as the Colts, the Titans have all the pieces in piece to make a deep playoff run in January. So, for the Seahawks, this will be their first team with not many questions, and this will be a team that will test Seattle’s run defense.

Week 3 Seattle Seahawks at Minnesota Vikings 1:25 p.m. (FOX)

Looking at this week three matchup, I had one thought for the Seahawks, who in the previous two weeks have faced teams that were in the postseason a year ago, the Vikings have not been in the postseason since 2019. However, the Vikings seem like a team who kind of hit and miss as they usually have high expectations but were subpar last year. So, it will be interesting to see how the Vikings start the season.

Week 4 Seattle Seahawks @ San Francisco 49ers 1:05 (FOX)/Week 13 San Francisco 49ers@ Seattle Seahawks 5:20 p.m. (NBC)

The first divisional matchup for the Seahawks, who will take on the San Francisco 49ers, and the Niners come in with some changes on the roster, losing some contributors but keep the nucleus of the roster that went to the Super Bowl two years ago. However, the Niners have made key additions to the roster through free agency and the draft. The biggest change for the Niners is quarterback Trey Lance. The question is will the Seahawks see Lance in either of the matchups of this season or will the Seahawks have to wait to see Lance in Niners colors against Seattle.

Week 5 Los Angeles Rams @ Seattle Seahawks 5:20 p.m. (FOX)/Week 15 Seattle Seahawks @ Los Angeles Rams 4:25 p.m. (FOX)

The interest in this matchup is with the Rams; they have a significant change at quarterback with Jarred Goff leaving the division and heading to Detroit, bringing Matthew Stafford out to Hollywood. However, though the Rams have a chance at the quarterback position, and which brings major questions with the offensive scheme. However, though the offense has questions, the defense unit for the Rams is still very strong and can give the Seahawks offense problems in these two matchups.

Week 6 Seattle Seahawks @ Pittsburgh Steelers 5:20 p.m. (NBC)

In week six, fans will be treated to a rematch of Superbowl XL in Detroit, where the Steelers defeated the Seahawks 21-10. However, in the present day, the Steelers come off a season where they were off to an 11-0 start, but after the loss to the Washington Football Team in week 13, the Steelers five of their last six games in the regular season, including the wild card game. So, it will be interesting to see how the Steelers are this season as they have the most challenging schedule this year.

Week 7 New Orleans Saints v. Seattle Seahawks 5:15 p.m. (ESPN)

In a Monday night game, the Seattle Seahawks will face the New Orleans Saints, who will have to decide on their new starting quarterback after the retirement of Drew Brees. However, though one of the games best quarterbacks having retired earlier this year. This team is still Super Bowl contenders keeping the roster’s core that went to the divisional round last year. This matchup could potentially foreshadow a postseason matchup that we can see in January.

Week 8 Jacksonville Jaguars @ Seattle Seahawks 1:05 p.m. (CBS)

This matchup will pit a team with a strong solid foundation with the Seahawks with a team that is in the process of rebuilding in facing the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars have first-year head coach Urban Meyer, rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence. This week eight matchup will let fans in the pacific northwest see the game’s newest star up close.

Week 9 Bye Week

Week 10 Seattle Seahawks @ Green Bay Packers 1:25 p.m. (CBS)

If there is a matchup for Seahawks fans to highlight, this would be the one as this matchup will place the two teams who have the drama between the quarterbacks. The Seahawks problem has been resolved with Russel Wilson. However, the Packers’ issues with Aaron Rodgers still have not been resolved. So as of now, the best way to describe this as either a preview of a potential playoff matchup or could this be an easy win for the Seahawks if Rodgers is not in Green Bay.

Week 11 Arizona Cardinals @ Seattle Seahawks 1:25 p.m. (FOX)/Week 18 Seattle Seahawks @ Arizona Cardinals 1:25 p.m. (FOX)

The Arizona Cardinals come into the 2021 season after having made a plethora of changes to the roster, most notably adding JJ Watt to the defense. The Cardinals come into the 2021 season after being a couple of games short of being in the playoffs a season ago. So, with the Cardinals, it will be interesting to see how improved the Cardinals are in the 2021 season.

Week 12 Seattle Seahawks @ Washington Football Team 5:15 (ESPN)

In this matchup, this will put two great defenses going head-to-head. The Seahawks, with their proven defense, will take on the young Football Team Defense with their young star Chase Young. The biggest question for the Washington Football team is who the quarterback will be to start the season, but by these two teams meet, there could be a new quarterback under center. It will be interesting to see how the Football Team will be in 2021 after winning the NFC East a season ago.

Week 14 Seattle Seahawks @ Houston Texans 10 a.m. (FOX)

The Houston Texans struggled a season ago. Now the biggest question heading into the season for the Texans is who the starting quarterback will be. So, as of now, many Seahawks can easily pencil this matchup as a win for the Seahawks.

Week 16 Chicago Bears @ Seattle Seahawks 1:05 p.m. (FOX)

The biggest question for the Bears heading into the regular season will be the starting quarterback with three quarterbacks, and in week 16, will we see one of the veterans in Nick Foles or Andy Dalton, or the Seahawks will face the rookie Justin Fields. However, this matchup could also be a preview for the playoff matchup, which would be a few weeks later.

Week 17 Detroit Lions @ Seattle Seahawks 1:25 p.m. (FOX)

In this matchup, it will pair the Detroit Lions in the middle of a rebuild. This matchup can be a matchup to see how much the Lions have improved with first-year head coach Dan Campbell and their new quarterback a familiar foe for the Seahawks in Jared Goff. However, this could be another matchup that can be easily penciled in as a win for the Seahawks.
